Community established in 1980 in Jawadhu Hills, a tribal belt in the district of Thiruvannamalai of Tamil Nadu. 99 per cent of the population are tribals while the rest are outsiders from the plains. There are two major tribes in Jawadhu Hills, namely, Malayalees and Pachai Vellars. Malayalee, the major tribe in the area, is one of the primitive tribes in India. Stone houses constructed by the tribe 5000 years before can still be found in some places.
